PETA has named Leona their PETA Person of the Year 2008.

Thanks to her vegetarian lifestyle and commitment to vegan fashion (Leona is in the process of setting up a fashion line using no skins whatsoever, dontcha know), this compassionate Brit earned herself the crown of Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity in our poll earlier this year, along with Red Hot Chilli Peppers legend, Anthony Kiedis. So far, so good. But then she goes and places a big, fat, juicy cherry on the top by publicly shunning a £1million deal with ‘luxury’ department store, Harrods, because they continue to sell fur.

So, Leona, here’s our way of saying a huuuuge ‘thank you’ for speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for choosing compassion over cash, and sticking to your principles. Enjoy your award!
