Leona has been snubbed by the Brit Awards. Lewis was not nominated for the best British Single by the Academy, though her ‘Better in Time’ has been shortlisted for the gong through airplay and sales.
“It’s a complete travesty, Leona has been overlooked in her own country,” the Mirror quoted an insider as saying. “She should have been a dead-cert for Best Female. She’s had the most amazing year,” the insider added.
Lewis had also been snubbed for three gongs at the MTV Europe Awards two months ago, and last year she had been nominated for four Brits, but did not win any.

i am very angry about this. how pathetic can those people get. first she got robbed 4 times last year and this year she doesn’t get nominated for any of the important catagories.

Very shameful. But Leona doesn’t need a single award to prove her talent. Never have I been so captivated by a true songstress. It’s that “reality show curse,” I bet. Those industry execs and whatnot damning those who found their way into the music industry through unconventional ways. Not everyone has the connections!
There’s a war going on between the music industry and Simon Cowell. The music industry (radio stations and record labels) have always seen themselves as the gateway to musical artists. They earn their money by promoting new acts – just like TV advertisers. New songs must pay to be played on radio. Reality shows like the X-Factor bypasses these gateways, and make money along the way whilst marketing their singers. Thus, the radio company loses money as a result. Other labels also don’t like reality shows because they continue to pay to market their acts. Hence, that is why those labels refuse to support acts like Leona as a form of punishment. Trying to discourage new artists from entering reality shows. Awards like the Brits, Grammy, etc are not true reflection of the musical talent because they don’t take into account the record sales of the artist. You can vote all you want for the norminated artist but the final decision still falls on the final vote of the executives of those awards. Hence, why Leona failed to receive any awards last year. Not because of votes from the public but the final decision is in the hands the exec. Only phone voting remains in the hand of the public because the award company receives money from the public. Every thing said about the talent of reality show artist is just a cover. If you watched the X-Factor when Britney Spears sang and was critised for miming whilst doing a mediocre dance routin, then you know that she get pay millions for doing this. While the X-Factor competitors sang live and dance at the same time, have not sold any records, are called talentless by the music industry. All BS really.

I thought that last night my country would make up for snubbing her out of the Best New Artist category on the 51st Grammy show… No such luck!! Now she’s been snubbed here in the USA too. She didn’t win even one of the awards she was up for and clearly should have won.
I’m gutted. I hope she wins a Brit this year…she is so deserving. I just want to apologize for the stupidity of my country in not honoring Leona last night. Sorry everyone.
No offense, but Leona’s album was pretty weak, and she’s becoming a regular karaoke all-star with all the covers she does. She’s a good singer, but certainly not the best, and it’s not right for her to build an entire career singing other people’s songs, much less win awards for doing so. I thought I heard she has songwriting skills? Why not move on from X-Factor covers to writing albums that people can respect artistically, not just commercially? THAT’S why she didn’t win a Grammy…
