Leona has revealed she likes nothing better than shooting zombies in her spare time. Leona, 23, is a fan of the gory video game called Resident Evil, where players have to go on zombie killing sprees. Leona says “I do play video games and I like Rezzie (Resident Evil).”
Leona also admitted she loves all things sci-fi. She said: “Labyrinth is one of my favourite films of all time. I think David Bowie was amazing in that film and he wrote an amazing soundtrack. It’s stuck with me ever since I was six years old. I also like Star Trek and The Dark Crystal.”
In a chat with this month’s Rolling Stone magazine Leona, who is currently in Tokyo, also revealed she visualises some of her dead relatives to get her emotions flowing in the studio.
Having had two cousins die from leukemia and cancer, she said: “It’s hard to get too deep while I’m performing in front of people but I have a couple of times, and it’s true and raw emotion.
“When I did Over The Rainbow – my favourite song ever – I knew it would connect with people. My cousin Billie died when I was 14, and it’s my dedication to her.”
Leona also admitted she was a huge Spice Girls fan and pretended she was Mel B when her and her friends re-enacted the girl band’s dance routines.
But the star, whose natural talent has catapulted her into the big-time and who is now rumoured to be worth £10million, said she suffers from stage fright.
She said: “I get really shallow breath, and that’s just the worst, because I need a lot of breath to hit those high notes.
“That always happens just before I go on, and then the adrenaline kicks in.”
However, Leona claims she wasn’t too fazed when she recently performed for an A-list audience at an industry party in LA for record mogul Clive Davis.
She laughed: “I could see Rihanna and Chris Brown, because they were closest to where I was singing onstage. Luckily for me, I’m shortsighted. It’s the only time in life where I’ve thought, ‘Yes… I can’t see.’”
