Earlier this week Leona wrote a new message from Los Angeles. She talks about the horse riding incident and about a very famous singer she spotted while out shopping! Read it all below and after the jump:

May 04 2009 – Update from LA!
Hi there,
I am on my way home to London and thought I’d update you on how things are going. I’ve been in the studio loads working with Ryan Tedder, which has been really exciting, I enjoy creating with him so much ‘cos he has lots of ideas and he’s so passionate!

I’ve also been working with a lot of talented writers and producers and I’m on a journey to find people I really connect with creatively! I’ve recorded some songs which I truly feel inspired by and I’m looking forward to sharing them.

Leona Lewis has been collaborating with Xenomania for her new album in recent months.

The music producers have penned five tracks for the album, which is expected to be released later this year.

Speaking to the Daily Star, songwriter Miranda Cooper explained: “We are not going to change Leona’s style but it’s interesting for us to do something downbeat – tragic songs with a twist.”

We finally have a new layout here on Leona-Lewis.net! I still have to make quite a few tweaks, it’s not completely finished yet, so please bear with me. But I hope you like it =) The site is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox.

As well as a new look I will be adding a whole bunch of new pictures and updates. Leona hasn’t been up to much lately, she is busy recording her second album, but there are some pictures of her out shopping in Los Angeles and she attended an event a couple of days ago.

Leona’s friends indulged the singer’s love of horses for her birthday – with pals reportedly teaming together to buy her sponsorship of her own pony.

Leona turned 24 on Friday (03Apr09) and although she has wanted to throw herself into the equestrian world since she was a little girl, her hectic schedule means she is unable to care for a horse full time.

So Lewis’ pals opted to buy her the next best thing – a sponsorship certificate for an animal in Los Angeles. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, “Leona is besotted with horses. It’s a bit pricey to splash out on one of her own, so they (her friends) donated money to sponsor one for her in L.A. She was overwhelmed by everyone’s efforts.”

Leona Lewis will collaborate with Timbaland on her upcoming second album, it has been claimed.

Leona will work with the producer as well as fellow stars Justin Timberlake, will.i.am and Jay-Z on the follow-up to 2007′s Spirit.

An insider said: “Timbaland can’t wait to work with Leona and make her feisty like Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Michael Jackson reportedly wants Leona Lewis to perform with him during his 50-date residency at the O2 arena.

According to The Sun, the 50-year-old believes Leona would be the perfect replacement for his sister Janet on the 1995 duet ‘Scream’.

“Michael has a list of singers he feels could do Janet justice – and Leona is top,” said a source.
