Second Leona CD to be released    ·    November 1st, 2007

Simon Cowell is putting the finishing touches to Leona’s debut CD, Spirit, which hits shops on November 12.

But just days later little-known management company UEG Music plan to put out another collection of Leona tracks, called The Best Kept Secret, from before she was a star.

Cowell, is furious with the rival disc and his lawyers look certain to try to block it.

A spokesman for Leona told me last night: “UEG approached Leona and her representatives earlier this year — but they do not have the rights to release these demos.”

UEG are putting out the record in a bid to claw back tens of thousands of pounds they claim they spent developing Leona from when she was an unknown 16-year-old in Hackney, East London.

Leona doesn’t fancy Simon    ·    October 31st, 2007

Leona Lewis has laughed off rumors of a romance with her mentor Simon Cowell, because he is too old.

Cowell, 48, discovered 22-year-old Lewis as a judge on The X Factor, and is masterminding her quest for musical success - but that’s as far as their relationship goes.

She says, “He’s a real gentleman and really supportive - he’s very popular with the ladies. I didn’t fancy him, he’s old enough to be my dad! But a lot of my friends who met him thought he was lovely.”

Leona teased for being mixed-race    ·    October 31st, 2007

Leona Lewis has revealed how her mixed-race looks made her a target for bullying classmates at school.

‘I was the only one at stage school who wasn’t white’, she explains. ‘Some kids would come up to me and say “Oh, you’re mixed-race”, making it a big deal when it wasn’t.

‘I later went to a school where the majority of the kids were black and because I used to wear my hair out, I’d get teased for not wearing it in braids and for being different there too.’
