Leona’s debut album Spirit has debuted at number 1 in America on the Billboard Album chart. #1!!! That’s AMAZING! 204,841 copies were sold last week.
This is the first time in music history that a British female artist debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, and it’s the first time ever that a British artist overall has debuted on the chart at #1 with a first album.
Simon Cowell described Lewis’s achievement as “incredible”, saying: “This is the hardest market to crack and for her debut album to go in at number one is unbelievable.”
Incredible indeed, major congratulations to Leona - what an achievement!
I just found this picture of Leona signing autographs after the taping of Jimmy Kimmel in Hollywood last week. She sure is getting more and more famous!
Leona and her longtime boyfriend Lou were seen together at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Saturday. No word on where the two were going, but my guess is back to England? Click below to view all the cute pictures.
On Friday night Leona was spotted leaving the taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood. Leona was met by photographers and fans, who all wanted a little piece of the rising star - Leona happily signed autographs before being driven off. Click below to view the pictures.
Leona recently visited the “Extra” studios where she opened up to Terri Seymour (who just happens to be Simon Cowell’s girlfriend) about her sudden rise to fame, Simon Cowell’s rumored gift and dished about talk show hosts, Oprah, Tyra Banks and Ellen DeGeneres.
On becoming the first British female to top the U.S. music charts in 20 years, Lewis admitted, “I still can’t believe it. I’m trying to get my head around it. It’s such an amazing achievement.”
As for the rumors that Simon Cowell bought her a $5 million house, Lewis exclaimed, “Everyone keeps asking, ‘How’s the house? How many bedrooms? The swimming pool!’
There’s no house!” Lewis continued, praising Simon. “I think of him as someone who’s guiding me in my career and really opening doors that would never have been opened before.”
Yesterday was a busy day for Leona. She appeared on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel and here she is pictured arriving at the KISS FM studios in Burbank for an appearance on JoJo’s Top 9 at 9 Countdown Show. Click below to view the pictures in the gallery.
Leona will be on The Tyra Banks Show on April 17th. The episode has already been filmed (see above picture) and according to Leona it was loads of fun:
“I went on the Tyra Show. She’s just so awesome. I love Tyra Banks. I am a huge fan of hers. I was really, really star struck when I met her. We had fun. We had a girly chat. She’s really lovely.”
As well as appearing on The Ellen Show yesterday, Leona also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Leona sat down with the hilarious talk show host and spoke about her success, rumors, Simon Cowell (of course) and about her relationship with Lou - a topic which Jimmy found very interesting.

Leona is a closet rock chick. Leona told press that she loves listening to bands like Radiohead , Foo Fighters and heavy metal band System of a Down.
She said: “I love Radiohead. They are so innovative. I still believe they are way ahead of their time. I’m into a lot of rock music, not just pop. I’ve been listening to a lot of System of a Down, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol lately.”
Leona has also thanked the big music stars who came forward to work with her on the US version of her debut album ‘Spirit’, which hit shelves on Tuesday.
Leona was spotted by the paps at JFK airport a couple of days ago. After a couple of weeks spent in New York to promote her single and album, Leona is now in Los Angeles where she is appearing, and has appeared, on even more talk shows.
