Leona distraught over ‘X Factor’ fix claims    ·    November 25th, 2006

X Factor star Leona Lewis is distraught by claims that the show has been fixed for her to win.

The singer is worried that she will face a backlash from fans and not pick up enough votes to make the show’s final because of recent tabloid rumours.

A friend told the Daily Star: “She can’t get the fix claims out of her head and it is really getting to her. She is really upset and fears fans won’t vote for her, even though she has a stunning voice and the looks to go with it.

“She knows her place in the final on December 16 is not the dead cert that everyone is telling her it is. She is actually quite a shy, humble girl and she takes nothing for granted.

“There have been a few shocks in the series so far and she is doing everything in her power to make sure she doesn’t get a nasty surprise.”

Yesterday it was claimed that rocker Ben Mills had threatened to quit the show because he believed that the winner’s single is more suited to a female vocal.

Simon slates fix claims    ·    November 25th, 2006

Defiant Simon Cowell last night insisted the X Factor is NOT fixed in favour of Leona — and revealed: “I’ve bet £1,000 Ben will win.”

He hit back after we revealed contestant Ben Mills threatened to quit because he feared bosses had arranged for rival Leona Lewis, 21, to win.

Ben, 26, was said to be furious that the song chosen for the winner’s debut single, Kelly Clarkson’s A Moment Like This, is more suited to a female vocal.

And we can reveal the long-haired lad from Kent, who is being mentored by Sharon Osbourne, left show bosses panicking this week by going MISSING.

But judge Simon, 47, who is mentoring Leona, said: “There is no fix.

“Everyone wants their act to win, but I genuinely think Ben will win and I’ll be very happy if he does.

“I’ve got a £1,000 bet with Sharon that he will win.”

Simon added: “If we have Ben and Leona in the final it’ll be the best final ever.

“The whole point is to find a successful recording artist. We want a star to emerge from this show.”

Clarkson released A Moment Like This after winning American Idol in 2002.

And the X Factor winner will release their version on December 20, four days after the ITV1 hit ends. This means all remaining contestants have had to record the single this week so it can be released as soon as the winner is announced.

Ben recorded his version on Thursday after going missing for a day.

He turned off his mobile and eventually turned up at his mum’s house.

Ben Mills threatening to quit X Factor    ·    November 24th, 2006

X Factor’s Ben Mills is threatening to quit the show claiming it has been fixed for rival Leona Lewis to win.

The 26-year-old contestant is furious that the song chosen to be the winner’s single - Kelly Clarkson’s ‘A Moment Like This’ - is more suitable for a female voice.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Ben’s really angry about the song. He doesn’t want to record it and has been saying he will walk out of the show before the final if he thinks anything else is swung in Leona’s favour.

“All the remaining contestants are meant to record the song this week so that it is ready for release once the winner is announced.

“But Ben thinks Leona now has an unfair advantage and is convinced he’s being stitched up by Simon Cowell.”

Leona To Appear On The Ellen Show    ·    November 20th, 2006

It seems that Leona is already doing very well in the US, which is very unusual for a UK singer!, so much so that Ellen Degeneres has invited Leona onto her show.

Leona’s mentor, Simon Cowell predicted early on in the competition that Leona would do well in the States, on Saturday’s show, fresh from a trip to LA, Cowell said: “I’ve been there and everyone is buzzing about you it’s unbelievable.”

Simon Cowell Worried That Leona Can’t Win    ·    November 18th, 2006

Simon CowellIf you saw todays X-factor, you would have seen that Simon is worried that Leona can’t win this years X Factor. Simon who last week described Leona’s performance “world class” has admitted that he has doubt that the public will vote for her as a female winner for the first time.

“There’s still something that bothers me because historically girls don’t win these competitions,” Cowell explained. “I’ve seen this happen before. When you vote for someone like Leona it’s like you’ve had a hand in her career. You’ve helped launch somebody who may do very well. Just as easily you can snuff it out.”
