Leona won’t be going on tour anytime soon, unfortunately. In fact, Leona will release a second album before going on tour. The second album is expected to be released next year.
“We have absolutely no plans for her to tour until 2010,” Lewis’ manager Richard Griffiths, head of London-based Modest Management, tells Billboard.com. “We’re going to make ['Spirit'] the biggest record in the world, then we’ll make another record in 2009, and tour on the back of that.”
“Spirit” arrives April 8 in the United States through J/SyCo Music. Lewis will support the release with a six-week promo trip stateside. “America is looking extremely positive. J Records is doing an incredible job there,” says Griffiths. “The initial airplay position is very positive. We’ve got no problems at the moment.”
Us Leona fans aren’t the only ones who are incredibly shocked that she didn’t win a single award at the Brits.
Leona’s bosses at Sony BMG are reportedly furious that she missed out on 4 gongs on Wednesday night — and I can’t blame them! ‘It has left a really nasty taste in our mouths,’ a source at Sony BMG tells The Sun. ‘Leona and everyone involved are upset. The Brits love a snub but this is so cruel on her. Her record sales dragged the industry off its arse last year.’ Leona was so hurt about missing out, she’s said to have skipped the-after party at London’s Hilton Hotel and headed straight home.
Personally I can’t believe that Kate Nash and The Arctic Monkeys won instead of Leona. Take That have a large fan base and they had a huge hit with Shine, plus they are mature adults who really appreciated the awards they won, so it’s not so bad that they won, but The Arctic bloody Monkeys?? They are a bunch of drunken little chavs who could barely understand what was going on. They sure as hell didn’t appreciate winning! And Kate Nash? She was appreciative, but is nothing compared to Leona. Kate talks in her songs, Leona belts her heart out! 2007 was the year of Leona — she had the number one album and number one single for weeks and weeks. The fact that the Brit Academy completely and utterly snubbed her is appalling and unfair.
Unfortunately Leona didn’t win last night at the Brit Awards (I’m still in shock!), but she performed “Bleeding Love” and it was an amazing performance, definitely the best of the night! Check out the performance below:
